1. Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (Subclass 482 – TSS Visa)Allows Australian employers to sponsor skilled workers for positions they can’t fill locally.
Valid for up to 2–4 years


Requires nomination by an approved employer


Must meet English, skills, and work experience requirements


Option to transition to PR under Subclass 186


2. Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)
A points-tested visa for skilled workers who are not sponsored by an employer or family member.
PR visa with no employer requirement


Must have an occupation on the MLTSSL


Requires invitation through Skill Select


3. Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)
Permanent visa for skilled workers nominated by an Australian state or territory government.
Faster processing with state sponsorship


Requires a valid skills assessment and minimum points


Offers pathway to PR


4. Skilled Work Regional Visa (Subclass 491)
For skilled workers willing to live and work in regional Australia.
Valid for 5 years


Provides a pathway to PR via Subclass 191


Must be nominated by a state or sponsored by a relative in a regional area


5. Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186)
Permanent visa for skilled workers sponsored by an Australian employer.
Direct Entry or Transition Stream available


Must meet skills, health, and character requirements


PR granted upon approval
